Public organizations, here with a special focus on health, are of great relevance to society. Therefore, it is essential that they have reliable internal processes to achieve their organizational objectives, which makes it important to evaluate the quality of these internal processes and this can be done by applying a maturity assessment instrument. In the quest to achieve organizational objectives, corporate risk management has been consolidating itself as an effective tool, but the implementation of new methods, here understood as process innovations, in public administration can be challenging. This descriptive-explanatory study sought to analyze the degree of maturity of the management practices of a public health organization in Porto Velho (RO), focusing on corporate risk management. The results demonstrate a lack of systematization and formalization of processes, as the main factors that contribute to the low degree of maturity of the organization researched.
