The aim of this article was to analyze the relationship between Burnout and Depression in federal prison officers. For this, the Sociodemographic and Functional Questionnaire (QSF), the Beck Depression Inventory (EII) and the Maslasch Burnout Inventory (MBI) were applied to 190 federal prison officers in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Data analysis was performed using Exploratory Factor Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression. The results showed a low positive relationship between the Emotional Exhaustion and Low Professional Fulfillment dimensions with the depression dimensions (somatic, cognitive and affective). Although most respondents are not predisposed to depressive symptoms, the study showed a high propensity to develop BS. The research presents theoretical and practical contributions, seeking to mitigate stressors and, thus, reduce the risks of depression in prison officers
