Abstract

This study aims to contribute to creating organizational features of advocacy networks in the educational environment and building connections with the Sustainable Development Goals. Therefore, an exploratory qualitative study was developed in three Brazilian educational institutions that work as networks and develop projects linked to sustainable development. The main results characterize the three dimensions of advocacy networks - strong ties, information flow, and multilevel actors – demonstrating they are important factors for the management of all studied projects. The study showed the advocacy projects are linked to sustainable development and directly impact 10 SDGs, demonstrating that education goes beyond the school/university frontiers, and impacts directly the community. This research has theoretical and practical implications for contributing to the understanding of advocacy networks from an educational perspective, helping managers to identify the most significant points for the organization of the network to implement tactical interventions in the management for sustainable development.
